rotary wing aircraft for aerial herbicide spraying for eradication of phragmites
phragmites is an invasive perennial grass that is causing damage to coastal wetlands and beaches in ontario. it grows to heights exceeding 5m, spreads rapidly and creates monoculture stands, which reduce biodiversity and destroy habitat for other species, including species at risk.
the proposed project is to control phragmites at long point (400ha) and rondeau provincial park (100ha) using a surfactantless glyphosate herbicide, applied by helicopter in september 2016, pending receipt of federal and provincial authorizations.
the ministry of natural resources and forestry is looking for one (1) supplier to provide full service aerial herbicide spraying by rotary wing aircraft.
in order to properly acquire these services the ministry is seeking responses to technical and operational questions which will assist in the planning and development of the project
