The Town of Port Hedland (Town) have continued with the detailed design development of the South Hedland Integrated Sports Hub (SHISH) since Council adopted the amended masterplan in September 2022.The progression of Stages 1A & 1B see the relocation of Kevin Scott Oval to the western end of the Wanangkura Stadium. As well as a new AFL standard oval, there will be supporting amenities to this, by way of spectator seating, carparking and landscaping. Stage 1B is the construction of a new multi user sporting pavilion for four (4) unisex changerooms to support female inclusion in sport. The facilities will also include supporting clubrooms, function facilities and umpire and tournament rooms for activation in line with the AFL change rooms guidelines.The bulk earthworks also includes the construction of a new roundabout into the site from Hamilton Rd and North Circular Road as well as minor reconstruction of the roads, at each tie in point.This initial package will allow for an expedited construction period but bring forward the bulk civil works across both 1A & 1B allowing for a secondary package to be released to finalise the works under this stage.
