The Chesapeake Police Department (the City) invites qualified veterinarians to submit bids to provide Veterinary Services for Chesapeake Police Department (CPD) canines (aggressive bite dogs and non-aggressive dogs) on an as needed basis. The mission of CPD Canine Program is to enhance public safety by utilizing canines to reduce the need for manpower, to assist in the detection of narcotics and to assist in the apprehension of offenders. The goals of the CPD Canine Program are to support the CPD goals through the following objectives: improve public, employee, and offender safety, and detecting illegal narcotics throughout the City.
