CFW for Rehabilitation of Nursery of Kirkuk Agriculture Directorate, Kirkuk Governorate 1. PROJECT BACKGROUND a. Project description: The project aims to rehabilitate and construction Agriculture Nursery, so as to restore the agricultural activities that produce and take care of the seasonaland evergreen fruit trees for farmers, the Nursery was producing young fruit trees, before it was neglected, the building is managed and operated by Department of Agriculture in Kirkuk Governorate. b. Direct and indirect beneficiaries i. Direct beneficiaries Farmers of Kirkuk and Nearby Provinces, 10, 000 farmers (55% male, 45% female). ii. Indirect beneficiaries 16 Employees from Department of Agriculture in Kirkuk Governorate c. Impact and how itwill be measured (quantitative measures): Construction of this Agriculture Nursery contributes to revitalization of agricultural activities that produces seasonal fruit trees, the project will provide seasonal fruit trees that are given to the farmers who own orchards, or has pieces of Agriculturelands to develop fruit farm. As the tree nurseries in Kirkuk suffered from neglect due to the lack of compensation for the damaged trees, the Directorate of Agriculture has many orchards for trees in Kirkuk and nearby area, it takes care of the young trees and assets in this nursery, and then the young trees are sold to farmers in Kirkuk and even the neighboring provinces, at nominal prices. Rehabilitation of targeted Nursery will provide 32 job opportunities for the females and 44 job opportunities for the males working in nursery as daily workers 2. LOCATION The project is in Kirkuk Governorate- Coordinates 35.457054, 44.388616 3. BUILDING/CONSTRUCTION DESCRIPTION The Construction consists of Sun shed with an area around 1, 500 M2, and cultivated land with total area of 5, 000 M2 4. DESCRIPTION OF THE DAMAGE The Nurseries' infrastructure including the sunshade, and theirrigation system, the Kirkuk Agriculture Department owns many orchards for trees distributed in different areas. These orchards suffered from destruction during the war and neglect after liberation. 5. WORKS ON BRIEF The Construction work includes civil and mechanical works. a. The civil part of the works includes but not limited to site preparation with Dismantling old frame nursery at site and re-installing it inside Kirkuk Nursery, Sun shed, fence works, Plain Concrete for Walkways, Garden Soil Filling and Garden soil to filling polyethylene plant pots (Anvils) as indicatedon the BoQ. b. The Mechanical works includes but not limited to Irrigation works, HDPE 100 Roller Pipes, Sprinkler, Iron ball valve f 1.5, Multi-pump system and expansion tank, Water tank 30000 liter, Borehole pumping test and cleaning, Galvanized pipe (2" dia.), Water borehole quality tests and Submersible pump with an electrical board (Well depth= 85m) as indicated on the BoQ. 6. DURATION OF THE PROJECT 130 working days.
