The City of Calgary (The City) manages a diverse portfolio of over five-hundred (500) public buildings. Long-term service and facility infrastructure needs are managed in a sustainable way, considering the environmental, economic and social consequences when: • developing strategies for the best use of Corporate facilities; • providing comprehensive project management in The City's vertical building projects; and • managing and maintaining facilities. Challenges that The City faces in managing its existing portfolio of public buildings include increasing deferred maintenance requirements due to aging infrastructure, investing in improvements to provide inclusivity and accessibility, investing in climate resiliency and looking for long term energy efficiency. To address these challenges, The City plans to issue one or more invitational second-stage competitive processes under this RFPQ, where The City would work with private industry to pilot an innovative and collaborative approach to building energy efficiency improvements. Collaboration, innovation and collective commitment and accountability will underpin each process.
