Scope of WorkThe project plans construction activities in four separate locations Taro, Tulagi, Lata and Kira Kira. The approximate area size of each location requiring assessment is 1, 258m2 (34x37m). The consultancy firm shall undertake the following tasks for each prospective site: . Desk Study and Historical Research: - Review historical aerial imagery, military records, land use history, and any available UXO incident reports or surveys pertaining to the sites or surrounding areas. - Consult with relevant national and local authorities, military archives, and UXO specialists. . Site Reconnaissance (UXO Specific): Conduct a visual inspection of each site for any surface indications of UXO, discarded military items, or signs of past military activities. . Risk Assessment: Based on the desk study and reconnaissance, conduct a comprehensive UXO risk assessment for each site, following the "as low as reasonably practicable" (ALARP) approach to mitigate UXO risks. . Recommendations for Further Investigation/Mitigation: - If a significant UXO risk is identified, recommend appropriate further actions, which may include: o Non-intrusive geophysical survey (e.g., electromagnetic, magnetometry). o Intrusive investigation (e.g., targeted intrusive sampling, full-scale clearance). o Development of a detailed UXO management plan for construction activities. o Procedures for unexpected UXO discovery during construction.
