SFU is seeking proposals from commercially established companies with substantial experience and proven capacity for the provision of Artificial Turf Replacement Services at the Burnaby Campus.The desired completion date for Terry Fox field will be July 10th, 2026, and the desired completion date for Athletic Field 4 will be August 14th, 2026. Established in 1965, with vibrant campuses in Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey, SFU has become Canada's leading comprehensive university. With more than 30, 000 students, 6, 500 faculty and staff, and 130, 000 alumni, SFU has matured into one of the world-s leading teaching and research universities, consistently ranked among Canada-s top comprehensive universities.Terry Fox Field and Field #4 at the Burnaby Campus are used by a plethora of user groups including Athletics & Recreation for varsity games and practices, SFU Recreation programming, student clubs and both internal and external community events. The fields, roughly 180, 000 square feet combined is the largest open outdoor space for activities on campus.The replacement of the two synthetic turf fields due to their age and near failure of safety/condition assessments is being proposed. The current fields have reached the end of their lifecycle, and their deteriorating condition poses safety risks to users.
