On behalf of the Wolcott Schoolhouse Revitalization Committee, the town of Wolcott is requesting proposal submittals from architectural design firms that have experience working with historic structures. With assistance from LCPC, the Wolcott Schoolhouse Committee is requesting proposals for an architectural design study for the Wolcott Schoolhouse inside theVillage of Wolcott in Wolcott, Vermont. In the summer of 2022, the Wolcott Schoolhousecommittee received a Robert Sincerbeaux Grant from the Preservation Trust of Vermont to assist in completing a conditions assessment. The assessment found that it is evident that the WolcottSchoolhouse is a building worth rehabilitating and preserving given its historical significance to the Town of Wolcott and its architectural significance in the Wolcott School Street HistoricDistrict. In addition, the building's proximity to the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail provides an opportunity for the Town of Wolcott to reap some of the potentially significant economic gains many small towns in Vermont have already experienced with the added tourism the rail trail provides. The main objective of the Schoolhouse is to provide the residents of the village andvisitors a community hub that will not only educate on the town-s history but also enable greater economic activity through a small café.
