Background: tacom in warren, mi is seeking feedback from industry concerning vehicular intercommunications systems (vis). The an/vic-5 contract (w15p7t-09-d-k204) provides a developmental vis solution consistent with the vis-1001 performance specifications. Since the award of the vic-5 contract, technology has matured and new commercial capabilities have emerged.
Purpose: the government is interested in understanding industry's current capabilities relating to commercially-available vis solutions that include a wireless capability within an armored vehicle and within 500 meters outside of the vehicle.
