Flanders protects itself against flooding with over 200 pump pumping stations, mostly outdated. About a quarter of them use jacks, appreciated for their reliability, efficiency and fish -friendliness - a growing priority within policy and regulations. The tube hover still scores on paper Better in terms of energy consumption and fish safety, but is hardly used in Flanders by practical challenges. However, fragmented management and insufficient validation in the market, however, hinder the roll -out of the tube hen in those renovations. To stimulate this and more knowledge about the tube pipes, the Department of Mobility and Public Works, together with the province of West Flanders and Westkustpolder, wants to have a tube hen modeling and testing on a scale model. They then want to install the tube hover and effectively test in an existing mortar pumping station. Manufacturers Optimize the design with CFD modeling and scale models, supported by Nexperta (Department of Expertise Concrete and Steel and the Hydraulic Laboratory). The test results refine the empirical formulas and determine whether tube ponds are a suitable alternative to the replacement of existing jacks.
