KiwiRail`s iReX Project has been established to replace the existing Interislander three ship fleet with two new, rail capable ships to be brought into service during 2024, with the phased delivery of the new ships expected to be approximately no more than 6 months apart.
KiwiRail invites Shipyards that believe they may, by themselves or in combination with one or more third parties, be capable of meeting the requirements set out in the Request for Information (RFI), to submit a response to RFI 2019-193 Supply of Ships.
This RFI is the second stage of a multi-phase, competitive process to procure new ships that meet the requirements of KiwiRail`s concept design.
