A central specimen reception for the whole building will be part of a core laboratory on the 2nd floor and will receive samples from Landspitali and other hospitals as well as the primary and municipal health services in Iceland. Samples will arrive 24/7 via pneumatic tube system and manual deliveries. Samples that are not processed in the core laboratory or on the 2nd floor will be transported vertically to specimen reception rooms on other floors (one, three and four). Batches of frozen specimens in vials and boxes will also be transported to and from the biobank on K2 floor (basement) to and from all floors.
