Important note The purpose of the company is the restoration of the room of the former museum-library of school 1 in Schaerbeek. The objective of the project lies in the restoration of the room while respecting the original works and their implementation as scientifically as possible, while managing to integrate techniques linked to contemporary needs. This brief description is intended to make it easier for bidders and subcontractors to approach the file. This is the philosophy of restoration which is based on the desire to preserve the original elements as much as possible. The elements considered not to be original or which disrupt the original reading will be removed or modified. When necessary, and in certain specific cases, the gaps or missing parts are reconstructed on the basis of archives (plans, photographs or testimonials). These elements are described as “to be reconstituted identically”, “to be reconstituted according to the original situation” or assimilated and must be of material and quality identical in every respect to the original. The unwary visitor must not in no case distinguish replacement works from preserved and restored works in order to guarantee overall aesthetic quality.
