This project will compare the methodology, outputs and data quality of different Life Cycle Assessment and Inventory methodologies and standards widely used for construction products, particularly iron, steel, cement, and concrete. The methodologies compared will include widely used international standards for Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), the newly developed EU CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Methodology), and the GHG Protocol.

Abstract: The research project will collect data and develop a tool to compare emission measurements of steel, cement and concrete products purchased and/or produced in the UK. It will investigate variation and take-up of different reporting programmes. The procurement will be an open competition, and consortia and partnerships are encouraged to ensure a diversity of products and methods are included.
