Request for Qualification (RFQ) for the Al-Mujib 450 MW Pumped Hydro Energy Storage Project
The Ministry of Investment (MoIN) / Public-Private Partnership Unit of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan hereby announces the tendering of the Request for Qualification (RFQ) for the Al-Mujib 450 MW Pumped Hydro Energy Storage Project, to be implemented through a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) contract under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Project Overview

The Al-Mujib Pumped Hydro Energy Storage Project aims to develop, finance, design, construct, own, operate and maintain a 450 MW pumped hydro energy storage facility adjacent to the existing Al-Mujib Dam, under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The Project will provide seven hours of electricity storage at full load by storing surplus electricity, particularly from solar power generation during daytime hours, and releasing it to the grid during periods of peak demand. This will contribute to enhancing electricity system flexibility, increasing the integration of renewable energy, improving energy security, and reducing dependence on imported fuels.
