Hirsikangas landfill has been closed at the request of the Environmental Authority on December 22, 2024 and its closing plan is under preparation. The City of Akaa does not currently have its own landfill for non-polluted soil.the needs assessment and decided to progress primarily in accordance with option C, where:- A private operator establishes and operates the landfill independently- does not own or manage the reception site.The aim is to recognize interested actors who could operate landfill in the Akaa area- viewing views on operating conditions, location requirements, environmental permits and operational solutions- central location of the landfill site.
