The nasa technology taxonomy, which is currently referred to as the technology area breakdown structure (tabs) of the 2015 nasa technology roadmaps, is being updated to a new 2020 edition. This update, has been made with the input of technology subject matter experts (smes) from across the agency, in order to improve our common technology communication tool for its use within the agency, other government agencies, industry and with our international partners. This update is part of an evolution that began with a baseline in 2012, an update in 2015, and builds on that heritage. The 2020 nasa technology taxonomy update takes a technology discipline based approach in realigning like-technologies within the nasa mission portfolio.







In order to make the 2020 edition as robust as possible we are soliciting feedback from across the technology community on this important document. The purpose of this special notice is to solicit comments on the draft 2020 nasa technology taxonomy. The information nasa is seeking is as follows:



-with this special notice you will find two documents. The first is the draft edition of the 2020 nasa technology taxonomy (2020 nasa technology taxonomy_may2019.pdf) and the second is the draft edition of a crosswalk between the 2015 technology area breakdown structure and the updated 2020 nasa technology taxonomy (2020 nasa technology taxonomy crosswalk to 2015.pdf). We are asking for review comments on these two documents.



-for this special notice we are soliciting technical comments. Potential comments may include: technology discipline definition clarification, the addition/removal of example technologies, incorrect mapping between the ta system and the updated tx system, and the addition/removal of a technology discipline (tx) area.
