As identified in the 2018 and 2022 PSPC Fire and Life Safety Inspections, the exterior stair at the northwest basement exit does not comply with current building and fire code requirements and must be upgraded. The scope includes remediation of the exterior stair assembly, replacement of the non-compliant basement exit door to ensure proper fire exit functionality, and enclosure or permanent decommissioning of the windows located above the stairwell to prevent their use as an emergency egress route. All interventions are to be consistent with applicable building, fire, and accessibility codes and standards, and aligned with the accessibility audit findings.
