The Lombokplein project is being tendered through a two-phase approach, consisting of the Construction Team Phase and the Realization Phase. In the Design Team Phase there is a design and work preparation assignment that needs to be further developed in preparation for the Realization Phase.
The redesign concerns, among other things:. the extension and restoration of the Leiden Rhine. The water will be returned, the cycle path along it will be straightened and buildings will be built along the route. In addition, the redesign of the current Westplein. The task here is mainly to restore the urban fabric, the traffic bundleis being transformed into a city street. A pleasant, easily crossable street of 2x1 lane with a speed limit of 30 km/h, which also guarantees the accessibility of the city center. Part of this plan also includes the redesign of the Graadt van Roggenweg. This also needs conversiond to become a city street that is easier to cross and has a better quality of life.
