Pricing and Payment Terms are available on the MERX website.DESCRIPTION OF PROCUREMENTThe Department of Physiology at the University of Toronto is composed of 4 research platforms: Cardiovascular and Respiratory; Neuroscience; Reproduction and Development; and Endocrinology and Diabetes (EDRG). Within the EDRG, our lab seeks to understand the etiology and pathophysiology of diabetes. We focus on cell fate, function and survival in response to stress that is present in tissues throughout diabetes onset and progression. To this end, we as “users” routinely measures cell metabolism in various cell types. We often collect primary cells from mice to measure metabolic phenotypes, and we use adherent, immortalized cell lines in experiments to test molecular mechanisms. A metabolic flux analyzer allows us to measure real-time nutrient trafficking, as we seek to characterize small molecules in drug development pipelines, understand basic mechanisms of cell deterioration in diabetes-like conditions, and evaluate cell functi...
