In recent years, the planning of reading sequences has become significantly more complicated in universities of applied sciences. Teaching methods have become more diverse, students' individual study paths have increased and the workload of the staff has increased there are increasing demands on management. At the same time, higher education institutions are required to use space efficiently, ensure the quality of teaching, and have predictable study arrangements that support the well-being of students. Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SEAMK) the current practice of planning reading sequences is largely based on manual work, decentralized practices and the experience of individual people. This can lead to the overall optimization being incomplete, the amount of work used for planning is significant and the quality of the end result varies. SEAMK has surveyed the market to find a digital reading order planning tool that utilizes automation and artificial intelligence. There are different types in use in different industries around the world and for different purposes suitable optimization algorithms and engines, but the solutions on the market are not suitable for the Finnish higher education context and are not compatible with Pepi, the study management information system package used at SEAMK. Not in procurement solutions based on generative artificial intelligence can be taken into account, because future lesson plans cannot be based on past (suboptimal) data. The goal-oriented operation of the reading sequence process requires ...
