Purchase of an Optical Table
Introduction/Background:
The Quantum Communication and Networking Project performs research on the creation, transmission, transduction/interfacing, storage, processing and measurement of optical qubits - the quantum states of single photons. The Project builds and studies quantum devices, such as entangled-photon sources, single-photon detectors, optical quantum memory and quantum transduction/interfaces. Researchers are also working on a quantum network testbed and are implementing a new lab for a quantum network node.
Purpose:
NIST is currently building optical experiments in the new Quantum Network Node lab. To further the effort, NIST requires a high-quality optical table.
Minimum Requirements:
The system shall meet or exceed the salient characteristics identified below. All items must be new. Used or remanufactured equipment will not be considered for award. Experimental, prototype, or custom items will not be considered. The use of “gray market” components not authorized for sale in the U.S. by the proposer is not acceptable. All line items shall be shipped in the original manufacturer-s packaging and include all original documentation and software, when applicable.
The Contractor shall provide a Firm Fixed Price Quotation for the following line items.
Contract Line Item 0001: The Contractor shall provide an optical table meeting or exceeding the following specifications and having the following features:
Table size: 4ft x 8ft x 1ft. Top plate: =3/16 inches stainless steel. Flatness: +/- 0.005 inch. Holes: 1/4-20 countersunk and tapped holes - double density (1/2 inch spacing). Grid marking of holes at edge.
Self-leveling vibration isolation system. Capacity: =4, 000lbs at 80psi. Integrated casters and leveling plates (engagement and disengagement as needed). Isolation efficiency: 97% at 5 Hz vertical / 90% at 5 ...
