Among the unit's 4 common services, the precision mechanics workshop offers members of the unit a service for developing and manufacturing tools and objects necessary for their experiments. Provisionally named "The FabrIC", this "fab lab" aims to offer allstaff

of the Institut Curie a prototyping workshop. It is designed as an extension, open to all, of the mechanical workshop which, at the same time, will open at the Institut Curie. The entire workshop-fab lab will occupy an area of more than 150 m2 within the laboratory. It's in the storyxt evolution of this workshop into a "fab lab" that the UMR168 wishes to acquire a laser cutting machine.
