Invitation to prequalification for notice is hereby given by the ministry of forests, lands and natural resource operations (the ministry) of its intent to purchase pinpoint argos tags, for tracking spotted owls and barred owls, from:lotek wireless inc.115 pony drivenewmarket, ontariocanada l3y 7b5term: december 29 - march 1, 2017estimated value: $56, 672.00pinpoint argos tags are the world s smallest certified gps argos tag (from just 3.5g). Gps locations are automatically relayed by argos satellites, from anywhere in the world, ready to be downloaded online. It is anticipated that the ministry will purchase up to 22 lotek pinpoint gps argos 240 tags at a cost of $2300cdn + applicable taxes per tag. These tags are only available through lotek wireless a licensed distributor under argos systems. Under the argos banner of satellite monitoring only licensed companies have access to the tracking system. Currently lotek is the only company licensed by argos and building lightweight gps tags. Examination of all other licensed manufacturer tag specification, it was determined that only lotek was building a lightweight gps tag fitting the weight needs and restriction needed. Furthermore access to pilot test data on spotted owls from lotek s s confirmed the tags practicality for research needs. Currently the lotek argos pinpoint tag is the only tag that provides gps capabilities lightweight enough to meet specification found in federal banding permits for barred and spotted owls.objections to this decision must contact: joel.gillis@gov.bc.ca on or before 2:00 p.m. Pst, december 27, 2016, presenting, in writing, a brief overview of their qualifications and ability to provide the service and specific reasons for their objection.
