The LNG import terminal was commissioned in 2019 as an insurance policy for the gas shortage situation we are currently approaching. However, the Terminal has been in preservation mode since 2019 which raised concerns around its status, reliability, and operability at higher capacities. Hence, the Terminal Initial Operations Phase was designed to verify the integrity of the Terminal and ensure safe and continuous operations. The IOP is scheduled for October 2024, and it requires various preparations for its execution. Towing services are required for the berthing and unberthing of LNG carriers at the Terminal and escorting the LNG carriers upon their entry into Bahrain waters to the Terminal and upon departure. Given that the hired tugs are not registered in the Kingdom of Bahrain, a ship agent is required to represent the hired foreign tugs as per Bahraini Laws.
