Provision of Consultancy Services - Technical Advisor for Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) Project

Procuring Entity: Bank of Jamaica

Background:
Bank of Jamaica has initiated a CBDC project to test digital currency solution(s) from selected vendor(s) in the Sandbox and the subsequent pilot of the selected digital currency solution for Jamaica.
The Bank is technology agnostic, this will allow vendors to provide solutions that are based on existing conventional technology as well as blockchain technology. The Bank is currently in the process of concluding the vendor evaluation process to identify the shortlisted vendor(s) that have demonstrated the ability to provide a functional CBDC solution.

The project commenced in June 2020 with expected testing to be concluded on or before December 2021.

The Sandbox provides a controlled environment for the issuance of a digital Jamaica dollar.
The Sandbox also allows the Bank to have an informed understanding of the impact a CBDC may have on critical areas such as:
a) The Financial system;
b) Currency issue and management of the Jamaica dollar currency;
c) Monetary Policy;
d) Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering/Countering the ...
