Object of the contract
The Defence Clothing Team, part of the Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) within the Ministry of Defence (MoD) is considering the potential requirement for the provision of up to approximately 4 500 sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as detailed below.The Authority requires that any items supplied should conform to the latest industry standards and to take into account any known changes to those standards if different to those stated below.The requirement would be for a fixed quantity one off contract to meet some or all of the following items.Any Contractor wishing to initially register their specific interest and capability in the proposed requirements should do so by e-mail using the points of contact within this bulletin;— Item 1: Helmet — EN/ISO standard — EN-397 — Additional notes — No electrically conductive parts.— Item 2: Eye protection — EN/ISO standard — BS EN 166 (Type F) — Additional notes — Must be enclosed.— Item 3: Hearing protection — EN/ISO standard — Ear plugs meeting EN 352-2 or ear muffs meeting EN 352-1 (headband mounted) or EN 352-3 (helmet mounted) — Additional notes — No metallic parts on exterior. Rated at ?80 dB(A).— Item 4: Outerwear (jacket and trouser set or a combined coverall) — EN/ISO standard — Anti-static — EN 1149-5:2008 — Flame retardant — EN 531/533 & EN ISO 11612/14116 — High visibility — EN 471 (Class 3 for jacket) — Additional notes — 2 x 5 cm reflective strips around body and braces over both shoulders.
