DAF_2026_000093 The Combrailles greenway project (Via Combrailles) is based on the opportunity to reuse an old railway line, now disused, between the municipalities of Sauret-Besserve and Lapeyrouse. A tourism development study of This railway line was carried out in 2016 by the Mixed Union for Planning and Development (SMAD) of Combrailles and the Community of Communes of the Pays de Saint-Eloy. In 2023, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region has decided to take control construction of the project until its completion, in a logic of economic and tourist development of the territory. The Via Combrailles is not directly on the national cycle routes but connections could be imagined in the long term. term in a logic of regional networking. In this sense, the project also includes a branch towards the West up to Pionsat which will use small roads and rural paths. Via Combrailles is located exclusively in the Puy-de-Dôme department.
