The comparison of shoe prints at the Forensic Institute Zurich (for) is currently a multi-step manual process. This process should be newly digitized by automatically comparing digital images of shoe soles and crime scene traces with reference, comparison and crime scene traces by means of an electronic shoe track database. The solution offered is intended to include a reference database and the required software for automated lane comparison. This should be able to be expanded by the for for comparison and crime scene traces. The comparison of the digital images (shoe soles and traces of crime) should be possible both on the standard clients of the for and on mobile devices from police workers on site.
