Supply, Delivery, Installation and Commissioning of 30 Commercial Refrigeration Units operating on R-290As part of Sri Lanka commitment under the Kigali Amendment to phase down high-GWP (Global Warming Potential) Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants and promote energy-efficient alternative cooling technologies, on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka, National Ozone units, Ministry of Environment with support from UNDP, is piloting the introduction of climate-friendly R-290 (propane)-based split-type air conditioners and condensing units. R-290 technology, though currently limited in Sri Lanka room air conditioning and cold storage sectors, offers significant energy efficiency and environmental benefits compared to conventional HFC systems like R-410A and R-404A. Under this initiative, 30 units of Commercial Refrigeration applications operating on R-404A use in retail shops, pharmacies, Supermarkets, hotels etc. are replaced with R-290 units. The project will monitor the energy and performance parameters related data of these units through the online monitoring system. These systems will help monitor unit performance, detect faults, and quantify energy savings, enabling the calculation of both capital (CAPEx) and operational (OPEx) expenditures and supporting the preparation of the projects final report which planned to disseminate trough the awareness and workshops.
