Notice of Intent to Direct Award Issued: July 17, 2026 File # PHSA 19229 NOI Title: Erythropoietin Stimulating Agents - Darbepoetin alfa (Aranesp) Provincial Health Services Authority Notice is hereby given that Provincial Health Services Authority (“PHSA”) intends to directly award a Contract to the following supplier to provide Erythropoietin Stimulating Agents - Darbepoietin alfa (Aranesp) for a term of five (5) years at an estimated value of $83.6M. Amgen Canada Inc 6775 Financial Drive, Suite 300 Mississauga, Ontario, Canada L5N 0A4 In accordance with applicable trade agreements, PHSA has chosen not to proceed with a competitive process for the following reason: • the goods or services can be supplied only by the selected supplier and no alternative or substitute exists for the following reason: (a) due to an absence of competition for technical reasons. Currently, Erythropoietin Stimulating Agents (ESAs) in British Columbia and Canada are supplied by Amgen Canada Inc. (darbepoetin alfa [Aranesp®]) and Janssen Inc. (epoetin alfa [Eprex®]). Janssen Inc. has announced the discontinuation of Eprex®, effective April 30, 2027. As a result, Aranesp® will become the sole ESA product available in the Canadian market, with no biosimilar alternatives currently approved in Canada.
