The Public Health Ontario (PHO) has a requirement for the supply of molecular PCR foodborne pathogen testing kits. PHO undertakes PCR testing of samples with molecular results required to be reported within two (2) days, as part of a screening algorithm where samples that are detected or indeterminateby PCR will be transitioned to routine culture for testing and confirmation. PHO therefore requires supply of commercial PCR kits that have the capability of high output and rapid turn around time for pathogen detection, including for Salmonella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, and E. coli O157:H7 andnon-O157 STEC from food and environmental sources. PHO currently uses the ThermoFisher QuantStudio5 (QS5) system for this testing, and so requires kits which are compatible and approved for use with this system. PHO is seeking to establish a long-term agreement for supply of these products accordingto requirements, over a term of three (3) firm years plus two (2) one-year option terms.
