In the Savonlinna hospital area the brick chimney located in The inspection revealed damage to the brick surfaces on the outside of the chimney, which is why it was decided to investigate the condition of the chimney more closely from the inside with a new investigation. For further investigation, barrel was first cleaned from the inside and the tests were carried out from the entire height of the pipe on June 26-30, 2026. Based on the performed external and internal condition examination and laser scanning, it has been determined that the structural condition of the upper part of the pipe in particular is weakened compared to the inspection in 2024. The goal of the project is to remove the structurally damaged upper part of the chimney in a controlled and safe manner so that the remaining chimney structure remains in as good condition as possible later for investigation, repair, verification and possible return to service. This contract does not include the repair or strengthening of the upper part of the chimney structure remaining after the demolition work, nor the structures related to returning the chimney to use planning, structural measurements, calculations, manufacturing or implementation.
