Tenders are invited for Options Study for Floating Photovoltaic Facilities in Mexico
The National Electricity Commission (Comisión Federal de Electricidad; CFE) owns and operates 60 hydropower plants across the Mexican territory; of which twenty-five have large water reservoirs that can be considered for the deployment of floating photovoltaic (FPV) or floating solar technology. The CFE Business Plan establishes strategic objectives to increase clean energy and increase the generation capacity in the CFE facilities; and CFE is looking to explore and find the optimal way to implement FPVs on the water bodies of hydropower plants- reservoirs.The World Bank is generally interested in exploring renewable energy options in Mexico; and the specific objective of the assignment is to assess options for implementing FPV facilities at 2 selected reservoirs; including (i) a summary of regulatory and institutional considerations; (ii) data collection and assessment of FPV potential and impacts; and (iii) a technical; economic and financial assessment of the various options to be considered at each site.
