The Townsville City Council (the Principal) is seeking interests from Contractor, or local community organisations to coordinate and operate the City Cotters Markets along Flinders Street in the central business district (CBD) of Townsville every Sunday morning. The markets will not only attract local residents, but be a draw card for national and overseas travellers and visitors to our region.The Principal sees Cotters markets as a key market for the community, with a potential to grow into a truly iconic event for the city, brining residents from surrounding suburbs to the city centre. The Contractor will encourage a range of smaller suppliers to be present and sell a variety of fruit and vegetables, meat and game, baked products, plants (a farmers market) and hand crafted items to the community, while local live entertainment, fresh food stalls and activities are offered to encourage an atmosphere of enjoyment for all.The Principal would be open to suggestions for growing and expanding the overall event every Sunday, and working with local shop owners, the Contractor should foster a desire to drive expansion and increase stall holder attendance.
