(Nu/1928) Replacement Of Ground Floor Chiller And Associated Roof Mounted Condensing Units - Paul O-Gorman Building
Newcastle University-s Paul O-Gorman Building (Northern Institute for Cancer Research) has a chilled water system providing cooling to the cooling batteries of main air handling units no-s 1, 2, 3 and 5 and 28 in no. fan coil units located throughout the building.
The chilled water is provided by an air-cooled water chiller system comprising of a Climaveneta semi-hermetic reciprocating chiller unit located within the ground floor plant room and 3 in no. inverter driven remote condenser units located at roof level. The inter-connecting pipework is charged with R407C refrigerant gas.
This current chilled water plant was installed during construction of the building and has now become unreliable and beyond economic repair and requires replacement.
