Centralization of HVAC Utilities Systems under one Building Management System 688-24-3-478-0115IntroductionThe Washington DC VA Medical Center is seeking a qualified contractor to centralize 100% of the HVAC infrastructure in the facility located at the VA Medical Center Washington DC 20422 under one Building Automation System.MissionThe VA Medical Center Washington DC is in the business of providing for our nations veterans and families to provide them with the respect and honor they deserve. Â Veterans are our customers and our reason for being here. Â All work shall be conducted as to not to interfere with the daily operations of this facility.BackgroundThe DC VA Medical Center (VAMC) HVAC system is predominantly based on 85% Siemens Building Automation Systems (BAS). VAMC is in the process of centralizing all critical infrastructure under one Building Automation System. The facility has upgraded the existing Siemens Building Automation Systems to an open platform known as Desigo CC. Desigo CC Building Automation System is an integrated building management system that allows users to optimize and control all systems in a building to include heating, ventilation systems, air conditioning, lighting room automation, energy management and Fire Saftey. Having 15% of the HVAC equipment on a different BAS system can cause some delays when responding to request while maintaining maintain climate control and Utility Systems within a healthcare facility. The Control Panel Operator must navigate between two platforms moving from one control station to another which has caused delays in adjusting and maintain climate control in critical areas. During this effort to centralize all BAS Systems under one platform it was found that approximately 15% AHUs, terminal boxes and other equipment systems are interfaced on the Boland Trane Control network.
