The Department of Veterans Affairs, Networking Contracting Office (NCO 5), located in Martinsburg, WV, intends to enter into a sole source procurement, pursuant to the authority of FAR 6.302-1, with CareFusion 2200 Inc., for the following requirement:Statement of Needfor theNeurological Sets and Associated Special InstrumentsGeneralBackgroundThe mission of the Hershel Woody Williams VAMC is to provide whole health care for Veterans of military service. The mission of the Surgery Department is to provide safe, efficient, high quality surgical care. This acquisition is required to resume Neurosurgical procedures, specifically procedures that treat conditions of the spine. This acquisition includes multiple instrument trays specific to the spinal structures/anatomy. Neurosurgery providers have been on contract for the past 12 months and have identified patients who are surgical candidates while waiting for approval of the Clinical Restructuring Request (CRR). In follow-up to the approval of the CRR, the requested instrument trays are now necessary to resume procedures.  ObjectiveThrough reinstatement of the Neuro/Spine Program at HWW VA Medical Center, the facility will be able to increase access to care and reduce community care referrals. The facility does not currently own the required specialty instrumentation.
