Tender are invited for The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) has assumed the responsibilities of the Federal Highway Administration under 23 U.S.C. 327 and is soliciting comments and information on a proposal to mitigate and reduce rock and ice falls at milepost (MP) 113.2 on the Seward Highway. The purpose of the proposed project is to improve safety for the traveling public and DOT&PF maintenance and operations staff.The proposed work would include the following: Conduct geotechnical and hydrologic explorations to identify causes and inform design and construction Excavate, scale, and/or blast the rock slope to provide a wider ditch and catchment area Install wire mesh and rock bolts or other measures, as required, to stabilize the rock face and/or overburden on top of rock Provide upslope drainage diversion to reduce rockfall and glaciation during winter freeze/thaw conditions, which contribute to rock degradation and rock and ice falls Repave/patch highway dama...
