Description

This is a Notice of Proposed Contract Action Synopsis. There is no solicitation available at this time. Requests for a solicitation will receive no response. This Proposed Contract Action is published to notify potential sources that the Rocky Mountain Research Station intends to award a sole source firm-fixed price contract, on behalf of the USDA Forest Service, to OCLC, Inc.

Description of Services:

The National Forest Service Library (NFSL) requires an electronic cataloging service for all reference, scientific, and technical information services for all Forest Service personnel across the country. As part of that service the Library collects, preserves, publicizes, and disseminates information (published and unpublished) of the Forest Service and for the Forest Service, both internally and externally. The current Integrated Library System (i.e. electronic cataloging service) through OCLC WorldShare Management Systems houses over 312, 000 bibliographic records, 347, 000 item records and over 1 million authority records. The goal/objective is to maintain this ILS so that the Library can continue to provide the Best Available Science to Forest Service employees and researchers. The current ILS houses over 312, 000 bibliographic records, 347, 000 item records and over 1 million authority records. NFSL-s goal for the future is to maintain this ILS without a break in service so as to continue to provide the Best Available Science to Forest Service employees and researchers.

The proposed contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.501. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Info...
