Description
This notice is being published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 5.101 requiring dissemination of information for proposed contract actions. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract, and is not a request for competitive quotes/proposals. The statutory authority for this sole source procurement is prescribed by FAR 13.501(a).
The US Department of Commerce (DOC), National Atmospheric and Oceanic Administration (NOAA), Western Acquisition Division, intends to award a Sole Source, Firm-Fixed-Price type contract with a twelve (12) month base period and four (4) 12-month option periods to the Kentucky Authority for Educational Television (KET), an agency within The Commonwealth of Kentucky, using the procedures in FAR Part 13 for maintenance services critical to the operational needs of the National Weather Service-s (NWS) National Weather Radio (NWR) All-Hazard Radio.

NOAA-s Weather Radio NWR All- Hazards network is one of the primary means that the NWS disseminates its weather forecasts and severe weather warnings. NWR transmitters are located at sites within The Commonwealth of Kentucky, while utilizing the microwave network of Kentucky State Police (KSP), another agency within The Commonwealth of Kentucky. This network can be found within broadcast towers which are housed at strategic geographic locations to allow for maximum NWR broadcast coverage throughout a large portion of Kentucky. These broadcast towers are primarily located in remote areas and provide an advantage for both above mean sea level and telecommunication line of sight perspectives.
