Nmin sampling and analysis in the Niederbipp-Gäu-Olten nitrate project (cantons SO and BE)
A central component of the nitrate project according to Article 62a of the Water Protection Act to reduce nitrogen losses into the groundwater is fertilization that is adapted to the beach location and needs-based. To do this, the companies must fertilize their plots in the project perimeter using either the Nmin method or the corrected norms method in accordance with the principles for fertilizing agricultural crops in Switzerland (GRUD 2017). This service order includes the collection and analysis of soil samples for Nmin analysis. On the basis of these Nmin analyses, fertilizer recommendations are made to farmers by the cantonal advisory services. Short description of Nmin sampling: * Project management (planning, meetings, data management, reporting), * Directions to the plots, * Mechanical and sometimes also manual taking of soil samples in the field (mixed sample from a specified number of drill stick impacts) for 3 depth levels in arable farming (0-30cm / 30-60cm / 60-90cm) and 2 to 3 depth levels in vegetable growing (0-15cm / 15-30cm / 30-60cm) according to reference method...
