National roadmap for CIMR and CRISTAL
The Copernicus program will be launched a new satellite series with a multi-frequency passive microwave instrument, Copernicus Microwave Imaging Radiometer (CIMR), and a new satellite series with a double-frequency radar altimeter instrument, Copernicus Polar Ice and Snow Topography Altimeter (cristal). These instruments will provide opportunities for new and further developing applications within, among other things. Measurement of sea ice variables, land variables, Snow cover, water and ground surface temperature, saltin holding in the sea surface, soil moisture and wind speed. The first Cristal satellite will be shot in 2027 or 2028, and the first CIMR satellite in 2029. that in 2025/2026 a national road map will be procured to investigate and prepare the utility of Cimr and Cristal data in Norway. It is assumed that key users in national management, research and industry are involved to ensure national anchoring of The road map.
