Project Description: Military Satellite Communications in Geostationary Orbit The MOD is seeking information from industry partners regarding innovative approaches to Military Satellite Communications with a particular focus on next-generation GEO satellite design and manufacturing. This RFI is intended to inform future capability development and investment decisions in support of resilient, agile, and cost-effective space-based communications for UK Defence into the 2040s. As part of our strategic ambition to enhance sovereign and allied space capabilities, the MOD is exploring approaches that can deliver communications in contested, congested, and dynamic operational environments. The MOD is particularly interested in innovations that address challenges in satellite design, manufacturing, and deployment, with a focus on: a. Bus design innovation; b. Payload design innovation; c. Satellite mass optimisation; d. Manufacturing efficiencies; e. Cost reduction; and f. Value for money.
