Pääkaupunkiseudun Kaupunkiliikenne Oy tenders the metro rail profiling service on behalf of the Helsinki City Transport Authority and Länsimetro Oy. The object of the procurement is the implementation of one grinding unit. One grinding assembly covers in the area of the main metro line and the western metro of the entire metro line in Helsinki and Espoo. The start date of the service is January 2027 at the latest. The service can also be started earlier, in December 2026 at the earliest, if the customer and the supplier agree together that the start is possible at that time. Both preventive, corrective and acoustic sanding are purchased as rail sanding services. The need for the grinding method and the determination of the grinding method are always made with the selected supplier before the start of grinding. Grinding longitudinal and the track length planned for transverse profiling is approximately 42, 000 meters in the main metro area and approximately 43, 000 meters in the western metro area of the metro network.
