Lapland's welfare region buys inpatient rehabilitation periods of medical rehabilitation as purchase services when the patient has a need for daily, demanding, intensive and multi-professional rehabilitation and Institutional rehabilitation periods can be implemented as a separate activity of the Lapland welfare area. The need for rehabilitation generally arises after acute treatment of a severe illness or accident, or due to a complicated situation caused by another illness.
