M&E Remedial Works Braid
Project Description:The contract is for mechanical and electrical (M&E) remedial works at The Braid, Ballymena Town Hall, Museum and Arts Centre, comprising the replacement of the existing heating and cooling plant and the installation of a new boiler flue system serving the existing plantroom, together with all associated electrical, controls and builders work. The Contract is to be delivered within a live, publicly occupied civic, museum and arts venue which will remain in operation throughout the works. The scope of works includes, but is not limited to: • Boiler Flue Installation: Decommissioning and removal of the existing boiler flue, and installation of a new flue system externally routed from the lower ground floor plantroom through Levels 00, 01 and 02 and discharging at the rear elevation, including all supports, brackets, firestopping and structural provisions. The extent of any Contractor design responsibility in respect of the flue installation will be set out in the Tender Stage Documentation. • Gas-Fired Boiler Replacement: Decommissioning and removal of the existing gas-fired boiler installation and installation of 4 no. cascade-controlled gas-fired condensing boilers, each of 200kW duty, complete with modular frame and header arrangement, cascade controller, and associated gas, flue, LTHW and controls connections and commissioning, and installation of temporary boiler to maintain heating continuity. • Ground-Source Heat Pump Replacement: Decommissioning and removal of the existing ground-source heat pump serving the underfloor heating installation and installation of a new ground-source heat pump of approximately 42.3kW duty, including tie-in to the existing ground collector loop, associated LTHW connections, controls and specialist commissioning. • Chiller Replacement: Decommissioning, degassing and removal of the existing chiller and installation of a new air-cooled chiller of approximately 548kW duty, mounted o...
