Object of the contract
The EastMed Pipeline is a project of an offshore/onshore natural gas pipeline that will directly link the recently discovered off-shore gas reserves in the Levantine Basin (Cyprus and Israel) to the inlet point of the Poseidon Pipeline to transport the gas to Italy. The project, for its strategic relevance, is included in the Projects of Common Interest list at European level. The subject of this Contract Notice is to perform the marine surveys required to further confirm the feasibility of the offshore routes from offshore resources of Cyprus to Peloponnese (Greece) passing through Cyprus and Crete (Greece). The Contractor will be also responsible for the permitting, safety, access, environmental matters and operational control of the entire Services. The Base Scope will include Cretan block surveys and full route survey pass. Survey is conducted mainly on 2 critical areas along the offshore pipeline route and will confirm the viability of the continental margin crossing(s) south-east, east and north-east of Crete and to characterize faults south-east of Crete.Optional Scopes will be included to complete the entire pipeline route survey from source to Southern Peloponnese, including block surveys of defined critical areas (Mediterranean Ridge, Crete Continental Margin and Cyprus Continental Slope) and Peloponnese Continental Shelf. The overall length of the offshore route is approximately 1 300 km in length and water depth along the route is up to nearly 3000 m.The work associated with the survey shall include acquisition, processing and interpretation of appropriate bathymetric, hydrographic, geophysical and geotechnical data as required to:-" establish the seabed topography, -" interpret the seabed stratigraphy and shallow geology, -" identify potential hazards (geological features and geotechnical phenomena) to installation and /or operation of the pipeline through the project life, -" processing and presentation of the acquired data in quasi real-time, -" present a final integrated report following the completion of the survey.High resolution 2D seismic data acquisition for geohazard purposes will also be required. Data precision and accuracy must be sufficient to allow:-" selection of a preferred feasible route that can be taken as the basis for further detailed investigation, pipeline engineering evaluation;-" preliminary evaluation of potential geohazard risks, including preliminary characterization of deep seated faults.Candidates shall provide all necessary vessels and equipment to safely perform the work. Equipment shall include the following:-" Surface and Underwater Positioning Systems;-" Precision echo sounder;-" Multi-beam echo sounder 5/20m size DTM;-" Sub-bottom profiler (Shallow and Medium Penetration);-" 2DHR seismic system;-" Piston Gravity Corer -" 8 m capability;-" Box Corer;-" Grab Sampler;-" Geotechnical Test Equipment;-" all necessary recording and processing systems, communications system.
