Trillium Lakelands District School Board is currently upgrading connectivity to its Cisco Unified Communications System to improve call delivery, call reliability, reduce costs, and introduce new features.
The current inbound call handling flow is via Analogue Business Lines (ABL) to FxO on Cisco routers, where the router initiates a PLAR to an internal extension based on the voice port configuration. Routers are registered as H.323 gateways to the Cisco UCM system. Inbound destinations are typically a reception line on 1 or 2 phones at each location. A few sites have the inbound destination set to an auto attendant instead of a live answer.
Each site currently has a Cisco 4331 ISR with a PVDM4-32 Voice DSP Module to handle inbound and outbound calls. Each router is capable of 1000 SIP trunk sessions. The current bandwidth at both main sites is approximately 2Gbps at each site.
The Trillium Lakelands District School Board is seeking proposals for a managed and fully redundant SIP trunking solution that will be located at two Trillium Lakelands District School Board facilities acting as centralized sites. These two locations shall be the Lindsay Education Centre, located at 300 County Road 36, Lindsay, ON K9V 4R4 and the Muskoka Education Centre, located at 1271 Cedar Lane, Bracebridge, Ontario P1L 1N4.
