The Province requires a Vendor to provide Chemical Waste Disposal services for its Agri-Food Assurance laboratories. These laboratories use chemical and molecular techniques to analyze various matrices for food safety and animal health hazards, and consequently generate a large variety of chemical waste. a) Project Background The Agri-Food Assurance laboratories are in the O.S. Longman Building, 6909-116 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, T6H 4P2. The chemical waste is stored for disposal in the adjacent Agronomy Building, 6903-116 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, T6H 5Z2. The waste produced in the Laboratories includes but is not limited to the following: • Organic solvents • Acids • Bases • Dyes b) Project Objectives- The objectives of the Project are to: i. Provide on site sorting, handling, packaging and labeling of all chemical waste accumulated by the Laboratories; ii. Provide Transport Canada (TC) or Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) approved labels and containers for packaging and transport of all waste; iii. Remove and transport all waste to an appropriate disposal or storage site according to (TC) or (TDG) Legislation; and iv. Provide disposal or recycling of all waste in a manner compliant with local, provincial, and federal regulations. c) Project Structure The Laboratories have three streams of chemical waste for disposal: i.
